Knifer Cache Box is a registered lottery operated by the Yellowknife Seniors’ Society
The Knifer Cache Box Fundraiser provides many benefits including:
- The winner gets some extra, tax-free cash while helping to support local service organizations
- The communities and residents of Yellowknife win with sustainable funding for many programs and services that benefit the people and environment; and,
- The retail and other business supporters win with improved customer relations and support of the local community and the environment.
How To Play
Step 1.
As a new player, you will drop into one of our retailers and fill out a registration form with your unique number. Only one entry per form but you can register as many times as you wish. The number(s) remain yours unless retired by you in writing or cancelled due to inactivity, or you move out of the area.
Step 2.
Tear off and keep your part of the form and deposit the registration in the Knifer Cache Box. You are now a registered player with a unique number; however, your number must be played to win any weekly draw. (Please note: if you do not receive confirmation of a number’s registration from Knifer Cache Box by phone or email within two weeks, please contact us.)
Step 3.
The cost to play is a Toonie a week for each of your numbers. For each Toonie, write your number very clearly on a sticker provided on the side of the Knifer Cache Box. Attach the sticker to your Toonie and drop it in the box. That’s all you need to do!
Step 4.
The weekly cut-off time at our retail stores is 10:00 am each Tuesday. Weekly draws from registered numbers are made every Tuesday at approximately 5:30 pm. Check the Knifer Cache Box for the current draw date. The winner will be notified by telephone and/or email that same evening. Players are responsible for keeping their contact information updated. The winner will also be announced in the participating retail stores, on our website, on Facebook, on Cabin Radio, and in the next edition of The Coffee Bread News.
Step 5.
Winners must produce identification that matches the registration to claim a prize and have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
Step 6.
The draws value is 50% of the total number of weekly entries per week. In the event a number is drawn that has not been played that week, the prize is carried over and added to the following week’s pot.

Tips for Playing
Tip 1: Bring Your Own Toonie
Bring your own Toonie – Please don’t ask the retailer for change. See rule 5.4 for playing more than one registration.
Tip 2: Don’t Forget Your Number
Don’t forget your number– take one of our stickers, write your number on it and stick it on the back of a debit/credit/another card that you always have with you.
Tip 3: Make Your Toonie Count
The draw is from the registered numbers, not the Toonies, if you want more than one chance to win, register and play multiple numbers, not one number on multiple Toonies.
Tip 4: Do Not Guess Your Number
Write your number clearly on the sticker. If you don’t think it’s clear enough throw the sticker away and use a fresh one… but just one sticker per Toonie.

PLay Weekly
Regular Play.
- Take an official sticker and write your number on it.
- Put the sticker on a Toonie.
- Put the Toonie in the Knifer Cache Box.
- Check the draw date on the Knifer Cache Box.
You will then be entered in the draw for that date!
